Hilary is 50. She’s worried about her marriage, her job, her age and most of all her teenage daughter, Tilly, with whom she is always at cross-purposes and who consistently comes out on top of any argument. Husband Mark isn’t much help – and then there’s her actress friend Frances who’s trying her hand at burlesque, Tilly’s girlfriend Lyndsey and boyfriend Josh. Not forgetting Josh’s parents and a strange young man who suddenly appears. And the dog! Thank goodness for red wine...

April de Angelis’s comedy is a laugh-out-loud, yet often moving, look at mother-daughter relationships. Tamsin Greig, who was the original Hilary, said: “It was really invigorating to navigate deeper into those intimate relationships. It’s a bit like tidying up your room so it looks fantastic, and then looking under the bed and thinking: oh, there is all that stuff I never sorted.”
