Will Self at Hastings Storytelling Festival

Self is a regular face on British TV programmes, including Have I Got News for You, News Night, Question Time and a contributor on BBC Radio 4.

He is the author of ten novels, five collections of shorter fiction, three novellas and five collections of non-fiction writing. He is increasingly concerned with the politics of urbanism. During his appearance, Self will read extracts from his books, talk and answer questions.

He will be supported by local poet and comedian, Kate Tym.

On Thursday November 12 at 7pm, a unique performance by the Natashas Project uses dance to share an insight into sex slavery within human trafficking.  The performance, which takes place at Kino Teatr in Norman Road, looks at this global crime, which generates billions of dollars in profits for the traffickers. The average age of a girl trafficked for sex exploitation is 13. They serve up to 40 men per day and can have up to a dozen abortions within two to three years. Sex Trafficking is a global issue with 161 countries involved in the international commercial sex trade.The performance will be preceded by a free training session at 4pm, in how to teach and educate about modern day slavery and sex trafficking.
