Popular Hastings attraction set to reopen

The True Crime Museum in Hastings is set to reopen this weekend, as lockdown restrictions are eased for the hospitality sector.

On Saturday (July 4), the venue in Palace Court will open up for the first time in three and a half months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Curator Joel Griggs said, “It couldn’t have hit Hastings tourism businesses at a worse time, right at the start of the peak tourist season, it was a very dark time for us, we were so unsure as to whether the Museum would ever re-open again.” Due to the government furlough and small business grant schemes, as well as support from staff and customers The True CRIME Museum is looking forward to welcoming visitors again, but warned it will be a different experience than what previous customers would have been used to. A spokesman said: “Our customers will notice new information and signage informing them of key safety information and instructions that must be followed. You do not need to book; we are limiting the amount of visitors in the Museum to keep in line with social distancing guidelines. If our visitor numbers exceed the government safe guidelines, you may be asked to wait to enter, or reschedule your visit to a later time. A new hygiene screen has been installed at our Ticket Office to help physically separate customers and staff. We encourage contactless card payments; however, we will continue to accept cash. The route of the customer experience has been altered to avoid unnecessary contact between visitors; please note some areas may close for short periods for routine cleaning. Our interactive and touch points are regularly monitored and cleaned by staff throughout your visit. We’ve introduced new PPE that our employees use including disposable gloves, hand sanitiser and face coverings, we encourage visitors to bring/wear their own. Signs in the Museum will locate you to the nearest handwashing facilities.”
