Hastings secondary school sends home two year groups

Ark Alexandra Academy sent home year 7 students last week and this morning (December 10) announced an emergency school closure for year 8.

Both year groups are based at the lower block of the school at the Helenswood campus.

In an announcement to parents, the school said: “We have been told by parents of a year 8 student of a positive test for Covid-19 this morning.

“Public Health England have told us to close the year group bubble.

“Your child must self isolate from today onwards.”

Both year groups had only recently been sent home due to Covid cases. Year 7 students returned on December 2, while the year 8 bubble returned to school last Monday (November 30).

They are the latest school in the area to send students home due to cases of the virus.

Baird Primary Academy, in Hastings, sent all students home this morning due to Covid-19.
