Don’t miss the master of percussion

NANA Tsiboe is a master of percussion, a vocalist and plays several instruments, including bass, kit drums, djembe, talking drum and mbira.

Born in Ghana, his musical roots are in Ghanaian Hi-Life, the brass and percussion-led hybrid that became Africa’s first distinctive pop music genre in the 1940s and 50s, and laid the foundation of Funk music.

In a long and illustrious career Nana has worked with many musical luminaries including Paul McCartney, Marvin Gaye and Ali Farka Touré.

Originally from Nigeria, Hastings’ very own Naomi and Iafia are making waves in the world of indie “new soul”.

Whilst you can hear traces of artists such as India Irie, Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley in their music they themselves are undeniably original and unmissable.
