The sun shone on the Santas on Saturday, as around 150 people helped to turn Bexhill Promenade red and white.

Bexhill Lions were the driving force behind the second annual Santa Dash and judging from this year’s turnout there will be many more to come. Riders from the Bexhill’s Classic Cycle group donned costumes as some perched atop Penny Farthings and The ATC marched the full 5K in Santa.

Event organiser Brian Comber said “We are really pleased with the turnout and support that the event received.

“It was really good to see so many children taking part in what is as a family fun event. Also congratulations to those who completed the course in wheelchairs - fantastic. “

Lion President Richard Winrow added “I would like to thank the Mayor for joining us today in what was a splendid and fun event.

“I would also like to thank the management and staff of the De La Warr Pavilion for their support and for providing mincepies and refreshments at the end.

“A big thank you to all who took part. You made the event so successful and I hope you raised considerable sums for your chosen charities. Well done.

“Thanks also go to the Lions Club members and Friends who were involved and all those who helped out with marshalling. We hope to see you all again next year.”

Last year’s Santas raised around £3000 for various charities and it is hoped a similar amount will be generated from this year’s dash.
