Aerial lift for sick patient

FIRE and rescue crews from Bexhill and Hastings were called to help paramedics recover a patient from a flat roof at the rear a row of terraced houses in Bexhill on Saturday.

The sick or injured male casualty could not be moved via stairs and so an aerial ladder platform from Hastings was called to the scene in Cornwall Road, which was closed to traffic while the operation took place.

The Bronco Skylift , from Hastings fire station, was extended up and over the rooftops before the man’s stretcher was secured to the platform and he was lifted safely to the ground, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to hospital.

The incident took place at lunchtime.
