Anglo-French Club

Our last meeting, on February 16th, was an aprÃ¨s midi social. We began with the chance to view some genuine, antique, hand-made lace from Normandy. This was shown by Josette Vaughan who explained to us how it had initially been made for her mother's cradle by an aunt. It is still absolutely beautiful about 150 years after it was made. We marvelled at the design and intricacy of the work, which must have taken many hours of skill and a great deal of love to accomplish.

Our next meeting on 1st March will be a talk with slides by Paul Robertson about the nineteenth century painter, Gustave Courbet .

Anyone with an interest in French language and culture is welcome to join us at the usual place and time – 2 30 to 4 pm, Holy Redeemer church hall in Upper Church Road, St Leonards.
