The event is now run on a voluntary basis by members of Bexhill 100 Motoring Club (MC), who have had a long association with the market. All profits go to benefit the local community or local charitable causes.

One of the organisers and secretary of Bexhill 100 MC, Lynn Brailsford, says she is anticipating a bustling and busy weekend with up to 40 stalls expected. “For the second time this year, the sights, scents, sounds and sizzle of the Continent will transform Devonshire Road when the Anglo French Market comes to town this Saturday and Sunday,” she said.

“Visitors to the town centre will find a colourful spectacle, with stalls lined up on either side selling a wide range of goods, from shoes, handbags and handmade soap to succulent cheeses, freshly made bread, delicious crepes and pastries.

Lynn says the UK traders will also be offering a tempting variety of products, including handmade jewellery and textiles, paintings, artwork, homemade cakes, fudge, jams, chutneys and chilli based products, exclusive handmade childrens’ clothing and flavoured ice snow cones. And Bexhillian David Hanley will again be selling bottles of wine from his French vineyard.

Bexhill 100 MC members will be marshalling the event, and will also be displaying a number of their classic cars for visitors to peruse at either end of the market.

Lynn added: “The market will give people an opportunity to enjoy goods that are not usually found in the shops and to sample a taste of France without the effort of travelling.

“It should make a lovely weekend for Bexhill as there is generally a very good atmosphere,

“I have the support of a very strong team – all we need now is nice weather!”
