Animals Helped Abroad open garden

An open garden for Animals Helped Abroad raised more than £230 at the weekend and money is still coming in.

Passionate animal campaigner Marica Linden opened her garden in Linden Way to the public and welcomed almost 50 visitors during the afternoon.

Marcia commented afterwards: "First of all a huge thank you to all who supported this event, especially those who struggled on the Sunday bus service.

"Serbia unfortunately is not supported by the large international charities, hence my forming Animals Helped Abroad which will also help other countries in need.

"So far the total raised is 232 and money still being received by post. This will provide basic food, instead of stale bread, and basic medication for fleas, tics, worms and mange."

Rotten weather on Sunday morning threatened the event but rain stopped at 10am which allowed Marcia to begin arranging tables and chairs.

She estimated 49 people attended the event "who enjoyed the food, raffle, skiffle group, jazz pianist, and Morris Dancers.
