Another £1, please, for Council Tax

A TOTAL Council Tax bill of £1,308.52 will be payable by mid-range Band D householders in Bexhill in April if Rother approves the final recommendations in the budget cycle.

Typically, families will pay about 1 a week more.

Rother is the last of the precepting authorities to set a budget.

For Band D payers, the other elements of Council Tax for 2005-2006 will be:

*Sussex Police Authority 110.25

*East Sussex Fire and Rescue 66.92.

If approved on Monday, the Rother element of the total Council Tax bill locally at Band D will be 172.37.

This includes the Special Expenses charge paid for purely Bexhill amenities such as Egerton Park and the Polegrove and the Charter Trustees charge, the basic Band D Bexhill charge being 130.72.

Rother is being recommended to set a revenue budget of 11,443,330 with Bexhill's Special Expenses totalling 693,917.

There are currently eight valuation bands.

If the Rother set is set as recommended on Monday, the total payable in Bexhill for each band will be:

Band C, 1,163.13

Band D, 1,308.52
