Anti-landfill group in Westminster protest

CAMPAIGNERS from Bexhill are hoping the new Parliament will listen when they take their fight against landfill to Westminster.

Bexhill Against Landfill and Incineration (BALI), lead by chairman Nick Hollington, spearhead a determined local effort to avoid Ashdown Brickworks, Turkey Road, being used as the dumping ground for East Sussex and Brighton.

On June 11 the group will travel to the Houses of Parliament to demonstrate on St Stephen's Green. Committee members have appealed for Bexhill residents to join them for a show of strength and unity.

Organiser Iva Barnes, of BALI, said the group wanted"everyone left in no doubt as to the strength of feeling that once again Bexhill is expected to be the dumping ground for the county's rubbish".

Iva is hoping for 100 people on the coach trip, describing it as "a chance for local people to really make their feelings known opposite the place where our laws are passed".

A tour of the House of Commons is included in the 12.50 cost.
