Appeal for witnesses after assault in St Leonards pizza shop

Police are appealing for witnesses after two pizza shop workers were assaulted as they worked in St Leonards.

The man and woman were in the Mr Pizza shop in Sedlescombe Road North, Silverhill, when the assault took place at 8.10pm on Saturday May 30.

An argument broke out between a customer and the two members of staff.

The customer was told to leave because his behaviour.

The customer returned a short while later and was told again to leave, the argument started again and a man was bitten on the arm and a woman was spat at in the face.

A 24-year-old man from St Leonards, was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was questioned and bailed until July 19.

Investigator Tony Lavelle, said, “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident. There were several other customers inside the shop during the incident. We believe that there were passers by who may have seen what happened when the argument between the two men spilled out onto the street.”
