Police in Hastings are seeking witnesses to a man being attacked near the One Stop shop in Blackman Avenue, St Leonards-on-Sea.

It happened at around 6.30am on Wednesday, 15 July when a white works van pulled up at the bus stop outside the shop.

A man got out and assaulted the victim, a 25-year-old local man, who was walking nearby.

The victim was punched before escaping to return home and report the incident to police. He did not require medical attention.

PC Ben Woods, of the Hastings Response Investigation Team, said: “ People were passing the scene in vehicles and on foot at the time this assault took place.”

He appealed to anyone who saw what happened or who noticed the van to email or phone 101 with details, quoting serial 129 of 15/7.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
