Attack leaves youth unconscious

A youth was left bleeding and unconscious after an unprovoked attack outside the York Hotel early Sunday morning.

The Bexhill youngster was out celebrating with colleagues when he went outside to answer a telephone call from his girlfriend at around 1.45am.

He 'collided' with three young men in an alleyway, and was pinned against the wall. The leader introduced himself, clearly stating his name, before hitting the victim in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him unconscious.

He was beaten on the floor and then suffered an epileptic fit. The entire incident was caught on CCTV.

He told the Observer: "It was completely unprovoked. I knocked into one of them, turned around to apologise and he slammed me up against the wall. He told me his name before he broke my nose.

"When I came round my shirt was covered in blood. It's ruined my Christmas."

The police were called soon after by the York Hotel after a quarrel involving three men and doorstaff.

Insp James Scott, of the Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Three local males were arrested at the scene and are currently on police bail until February."
