Baby Unit grateful for kind donation

STAFF at the Conquest's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) have thanked the children from St John's church in Hollington for a kind donation.

Young members of the church, known as the Rainbow Group, presented the unit with a cheque for 202, raised from the proceeds of a musical.

The group of children, aged between six and 12, held their first performance of the story of Noah and the Ark.

They all took part and raised money through a collection from an audience of family, friends and members of the church congregation.

Two of the older members of the Rainbow Group presented a cheque to the unit and a poster specially made by the children.

Julie Sayer, Special Care Baby Unit manager, said: "We are so grateful to the children for such a kind donation. It is lovely that a group of children want to raise money to help other children.

"We are looking to buy new cots and develop a family room so donations like this are very welcome."

Revd Maureen Hinkley, who helped organise the musical, said: "This was the first time the children had done any kind of performance and they all had such fun. They were thrilled to have raised so much money for a good cause."
