Best of Gershwin at the De La Warr

CHICHESTER Cathedral Restoration & Development Trust are delighted to announce an evening of 'The Best of Gershwin' at the De La Warr Pavilion on Friday 11th September at 7.30pm.

This will be a unique opportunity to hear two of today's best young singing talents perform a highly entertaining and varied evening of classic Gershwin favourites.

Jonathan Lemalu, a New Zealand born Samoan, is a joint winner of the 2002 Kathleen Ferrier award and the recipient of the 2002 Royal Philharmonic Society's award for Young Artist of the Year.

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers, noted for her commanding voice and vivid personality, has already been heard internationally in an exceptionally wide range of repertoire including leading roles for Welsh national Opera.

Alison Godfrey, Trust Director, comments: "We are thrilled to be announcing this concert at the De La Warr Pavillion in support of our work, and are so grateful to both Jonathan and Gweneth-Ann for joining us. It will be a wonderful evening."

She added: "Chichester Cathedral is a place of great beauty and we need to continue to raise 1,000 every day for its upkeep. Over the past 29 years, Chichester Cathedral Restoration & Development Trust has raised more than 9 million to fund the urgent work that is needed."
