Key works will include Fat Chair (sculpture, 1964 '“ 85). Gallery Two, upstairs, will house Scala Napoletana (sculpture, 1985), shown for the first time in the UK.

In addition nearly twenty notable multiples (unlimited copies) are included within the exhibition selected from National Galleries of Scotland. The multiple was a form of communication for Beuys '“ a means by which he could share and distribute his ideas beyond the confines of the artworld.

A full list of works will be available on www.dlwp.com when confirmed.

A spokesperson from the De La Warr said: "This is an exciting opportunity to show work by Beuys within a building whose architecture, like the work of the artist, is rooted in socialist ideals and whose purpose is to provide a cultural centre for its locality and beyond.
