“We travel the country showing our dogs and train three nights a week. Lois and Dakota won their classes (Junior and Limit) and Dolcie won VHC in Open.

“We bred the top Curly Coated Retriever in the UK and Italy in 2015. The dogs are our life, they make us so happy in and out of the show ring.”

Dakota, Dolcie and Lois were just three of more than 22,000 dogs that featured in this year’s Crufts at Birmingham’s NEC.

Fiona said: “We are really pleased with our result as we work hard all year in order to take part.

“We go all over the UK taking part in dog shows and Crufts is the ultimate one, as it’s the biggest dog show in the world.

“To qualify for Crufts you to come first, second or third in championship dog shows. It is quite hard to qualify.”

Presented by the Kennel Club, this year’s Crufts marked the 126th edition of the show, which attracts dogs and owners from all over the world as well as thousands of visitors over the four days.

Crufts is named after its founder Charles Cruft. Charles left college in 1876 with no desire to join the family jewellery business.

Instead he took employment with James Spratt who had set up a new venture in London selling ‘dog cakes’.

In 1886 he took up the management of the Allied Terrier Club Show at the Royal Aquarium, Westminster.

It was in 1891 that the first Crufts show was booked into the Royal Agricultural Hall in Islington.
