Young people from Bexhill have been making their voices heard on the airwaves with the Bexhill FM project.

Based at Bexhill Academy, the radio station has enjoyed its most successful summer yet.

The station says its success is due to the hard work and planning of Station Manager Richard Harris and Project Manager Chris Thompson, and the dedication of the entire Bexhill FM team.

Mr Thompson said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the Bexhill FM family.

“The quality of this year’s broadcast was at an all-time high with a range of shows from Luke Blackmore’s theatre and country shows, to Beckie and Amy’s Chill Time.

“ The radio station saw specialist shows, such as the ever popular Super Sassy Awesome Rock Show, and the Jas Aaron Nathan and Karin game show. Of course, no matter how specialist, the station was always open to requests.”

Deputy Station Manager Aaron Pape commented: “The great thing about Bexhill FM is that we are for the community. If you have something important to share about Bexhill, or even a song request, all you need to do is get in touch with us. This year has been our most successful, and it’s all thanks to the community of Bexhill.”

Highlights this year included a live broadcast from the De La Warr Pavilion, The Richard Harris Breakfast Show, live from main sponsor Hastings Direct, and a special broadcast from The Chilli Tree.

“Other highlights included Deputy Station Manager Louis Walker, and his daily show interviewing local people from the Bexhill Community.

Mr Walker’s guests included The Bexhill Lions Club, The Bexhill Rotary Club, Mayor Watson, MP Huw Merriman, The Y Front Run, Bexhill FM’s community sponsor The Heart of Sidley, local authors, local businesses and many many more. The show saw high listening numbers daily.

Bexhill Academy Head Heidi Brown and Tom Attwood, Sponsor of Bexhill Academy also visited the station, for an interview with Richard Harris and Chris Thompson. The interview explored the changes within Bexhill Academy and its next steps within the community.
