The mayor of Bexhill will be switching on Sidley’s Christmas lights at the New Inn on Thursday, December 3.

Sidley resident Maurice Watson is a big supporter of the group and is delighted to have the honour of turning on the lights, according to the organisers Heart of Sidley.

Audrey Pinnington said its Christmas Extravaganza will be the biggest and best one ever.

“This is the fourth Christmas Event put on by the Heart of Sidley and it is our biggest and best yet,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring the community together at a special time of the year.

“Our Santa’s sleigh is amazing.

“The children wanted to get in it last year and this year they can.

“We are hoping for a really good turn out and lots of happy faces.”

The event starts at 4.45pm with a fabulous lantern parade along Ninfield Road.

The children will be accompanied by Heart of Sidley mascot Sid and the Scouts and Beavers groups to the pub where the festivities will begin at 5pm with the switch on.

This will be followed by carol singing, brass band, mulled wine and mince pies, plus a free Santa’s grotto.

There will be a choice of a BBQ or a hog roast and Uncle Bumble will be there to entertain the children, as well as the opportunity to have your face painted.
