How many Williams do you know? This was one of the question rounds at Bexhill Rotary Club’s quiz night which took place at the Cooden Beach Golf Club. 85 Rotarians and friends gathered for a fun evening of questions and a curry supper that raised £400.
The evening was organised by Rotarian Hugh Allen and the questions set by Neil Coxhead. Following their success in Bexhill, the winning team, “The Interlopers” are off to pit their wits against the TV Eggheads in Glasgow.
Last year The International Committee raised funds for an African village, a Gambian school and a Shelter Box (a box containing the essentials for living and distributed at times of emergencies to refugees in need). So far this year it has made a £500 donation towards Ebola virus control and supplied another Shelter Box.
The next event will be in February 2015 when we will be selling crocuses. This activity raises funds for End Polio Now, a Rotary project started in 1979 with the aim of eliminating polio throughout the world. It has been extremely successful but one final push is needed to wipe out the scourge in the last few pockets left in the world.
Our annual Spring Lunch will be on 12th April at St Mary’s School.
