Bexhill rugby players in the pink

HASTINGS and Bexhill Rugby Club players donned pink socks and played with a pink ball to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Saturday.

Despite the torrential downpours they played on in the pink to raise cash for Cancer Research. A raffle was also held as part of the sporty fundraising.

The pink idea was thought up by player Paul Sandeman and his wife Ann, who recently battled pregnancy associated breast cancer and went on to have a healthy baby boy.

Said Ann: "Unfortunately, it absolutely poured down which affected the numbers coming to watch the game, but we still raised over 300 and hopefully raised a bit of awareness.

"It was a great day at the club and it would be nice to say a thank you to the businesses who donated prizes including Azur, SLM Vauxhall, Wisdens, Ant Trading, Simply Italian."
