A TALENTED Bexhill teenager is to star in a hit TV show for the third year running.
Amy Leigh, 13, plays Carmen in Tracy Beaker Returns, a Cbeebies programme adapted from the book of the same name. Amy said she’s thrilled to have been invited back to appear in the show for a third season and enjoys working alongside the show’s lead actress, Dani Harmer, who plays heroine Tracy Beaker.
Amy said: “Tracy Beaker was one of my favourite programmes when I was younger and to be on the show is so great.
“One of my favourite things about it is being able to play such a fun character. I love experimenting and finding out new things about Carmen. I am even being told I am turning into her!
“I have also loved working with Dani. I have learnt so much from her, from learning to be more natural on screen to being able to try and control the laughter on set.”
Amy said juggling the demands of a hit TV show and keeping up with important school work is a balancing act in itself.
As we film during school time we have to have a tutor who is sent with work from our schools so that we don’t fall behind with anything. We get tutored during any spare minute that we have.”
Amy has been a student at The Theatre Workshop Stage School based at St Richards Catholic School, Bexhill, for the past eight years and is one of the many talented youngsters at the school to achieve success on the small screen.
Amy’s future plans are to keep working in show business.
She said: “I hope to continue with acting as it is all I have ever wanted to do.
“I am going to work hard to become a better actress and keep auditioning for things and my advice for anybody wanting to get into acting is to work hard and if you want to do it as a career, don’t give up!”
