Bexhill Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS) will be selling off eight decades of its history ahead of moving out of its rehearsal space this summer.

Chairman Mike Poole said: “Bexhill Amateur Theatrical Society sadly has closed its doors for theatrical performances, but you can still help us help local charities.

“In the summer, we will be moving out of our rehearsal space - the Barn in Broadoak Park, off Broadoak Lane in Bexhill - and we need to hand it back to the council clean and empty.

“As you may imagine after 80 years of putting on shows, BATS has a huge store of treasures, costumes, props, bits of scenery, furniture, and so on.

“Since we can’t take them all with us, we are setting up a series of barn sales in May and June.

“All proceeds from these sales will be given to charity.”

Each of the three planned sales will have a different theme.

These will kick off with a costume sale on Saturday May 7.

All are welcome to come along between 10am and 1pm.

This will follow with a props and small items of furniture sale on Saturday May 21, taking place between 10am and 1pm.

And on Saturday June 18, BATs will finish with a tools and timber sale between 10am and 1pm.

Mike Poole said: “Why not come along and grab yourself a bit of dramatic history?”

BATS has been putting on shows since 1935 but dwindling numbers and funds has meant the end for the group.
