Bid to start a bookexchange in Pebsham

PEBSHAM councillor Charlie Clark is looking to start a regular book exchange club for residents.

This will take place every month at the community centre in Seabourne Road.

Cllr Clark is now appealing for donations of books and is encouraged by the response from people who have given him books already.

He told the Observer that he felt Pebsham was “missing out” because East Sussex County Council had removed its mobile library service “some years ago”.

He said: “I am thinking of starting a book exchange club in May 2011.

“I have a number of good quality books I can donate, I am sure residents would be happy to donate books as well.

“This would be held at the small hall at the community centre.

“I will make sure there is tea or coffee.

“All book exchanges will be recorded so no books are lost.

“There are many residents who live alone and others who just enjoy a good read.

“If this is something you would like to support please let me know.

People will appreciate it - it would be good for Pebsham, because with all these cutbacks people are missing out on everything.”
