A partnership, which aims to promote and press for improvements in bus services, looks set to be extended to cover Rother.
Councillors on the district council’s overview and scrutiny committee agreed last night (Monday, October 19) that Hastings Quality Bus Partnership (QBP) should include Bexhill and later Battle, Rye and rural Rother.
The recommendation will be discussed at cabinet at a later date.
Representatives from East Sussex County Council gave a presentation at the meeting yesterday outlining what such a move could mean.
The partnership’s purpose is to improve quality of services and upgrade facilities and is made up of interested parties. Hastings QBP was set up in 2002 under a voluntary agreement with the county and borough councils, as well as Stagecoach.
County council representatives said the upcoming opening of the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road would create new opportunities for bus services between the two towns.
