Bin man '˜damaged Bexhill car and bullied elderly neighbours'

Michael Matthews’ Nissan Navara was damaged in April and his neighbours say they saw the Kier bin man swing the lorry door into it, before rushing over to them and telling them to not say anything.

Four months later and Mr Matthews is no closer to getting any compensation as Kier deny the claims due to the lack of evidence.

But Mr Matthews believes he has enough proof and has been left exasperated by the ‘bully-boy’ tactics of Kier.

“I’m so annoyed as it’s my pride and joy. They’ve caused £500 worth of damage to a decent motor but they can’t do anything about it,” he said.

“There were witnesses, the person who did it told them to keep their mouths shut and drove off laughing.

“They scared the living daylights out of two elderly people, I was horrified when they told me.”

After months of getting nowhere, Mr Matthews turned to Facebook for advise on what to do, and was ‘gobsmacked’ to read about the amount of people left out of pocket by Kier.

“The amount of people that have had their motors damaged by Kier but they deny everything, and they won’t act on it and they won’t do anything,” he said.

“It’s so unfair and their behaviour is absolutely atrocious. I was absolutely gobsmacked at what was coming back at me for their behaviour.”

A Kier spokesman said: “We are aware of Mr Matthews’ complaint. While we aim to resolve issues from residents within a few days, this has proved complicated in this instance.

“Since Mr Matthews’ initial call to us, we have been investigating with our teams, but unfortunately, we are missing some key information regarding the incident from him, including vehicle registration and the date and time it took place.

“Without this information, it is difficult for us to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion, and we would urge Mr Matthews to contact us with the missing information so we can look into this further.”
