A woman walking her dog on De La Warr Parade alerted police when she spotted the body in front of the Bexhill Sea Angling Club shortly before 7.20am.
Police and paramedics raced to the beach, but sadly the woman, believed to be in her 50s or 60s, was declared dead at the scene.
