Bonfire warning

A STARK warning about the dangers of bonfire celebrations has been issued by firefighters.

This weekend, bonfires and fireworks will spring up all over Hastings as the town remembers the foiled Gunpowder Plot of November 5, 1605.

But the fire service has warned people to be careful - to help avoid the injuries they believe will inevitably happen. Particularly, they are telling people not to go back to fireworks once lit, build bonfires away from property, trees and shrubs, keep pets inside and children under control.

The annual Hastings Bonfire Society parade, bonfire and fireworks display took place three weeks ago, as part of Hastings Week celebrations.
