Rail campaigners Bexhill Rail Action Group have welcomed a new late night bus connection to the town, which will enable Bexhillians to enjoy an evening out in the capital.
The new Metrobus EarlyBird 380 service from Hastings to Gatwick Airport via Bexhill leaves Hastings station at 1.58am, connecting off the 11.45pm train from London Charing Cross, which arrives into Hastings at 1.44am
Until now, the last rail connection to the town has left Victoria at 10.47pm - too early for most late-night revellers.
The 380 serves all bus-stops from Hastings station along the A259 as far as Little Common, with a one-way fare of £3.
BRAG spokesman Richard Madge said: “Until now, anybody on a night out in West End has either had to run for the last train from Victoria to Bexhill, park their car at Battle or Polegate, or take a taxi for the last part of the journey from St Leonards.
“This new service plugs that gap, and takes our town closer to 24 hour public transport.”
There is a further 380 bus at 3.58am from Hastings to Gatwick Airport - 4.10am from Ravenside - which is aimed at travellers catching early morning flights and airport workers on early shifts.
Special combined tickets allow passengers to return from the airport by train.
