Brave bungee jumpers raise Row4Charity cash

BRAVE supporters of Row4Charity quite literally took the plunge head first on Saturday with a sponsored bungee jump.

The event took place in glorious sunshine at Bexhill College, where family and friends gathered to watch the participants throw themselves off a 135ft crane, which had been hired especially for the occasion.

Twenty-six people were listed to take part, with organisers hoping for a few last-minute entries.

Andrew Povey of Booker and Best took the plunge twice - having raised the top sponsorship of more than 420, he was given a free bungee jump.

Row 4 Charity is made up of four Bexhill lads who are flying out to Australia on Sunday to take part in an amazing challenge to row 3,400 miles across the Indian Ocean to Mauritius.

They are Matt Hellier, Ian Allen and Nick and Phil McCorry, and they are hoping to raise more than 10,000 for the Stroke Association.

Row 4 Charity would like to thank Bexhill College for the use of its premises and www.skyhighbungee.co.uk for the hire of the crane.

'¢ The four rowers had a leaving party at the Waterfront on the Saturday evening, followed by a special fireworks event at the De La Warr Pavilion.
