A mystery object which was uncovered by the tide on Bexhill beach yesterday (June 10) is to be examined by explosive experts this afternoon.
The item, which could be an unexploded wartime bomb, was spotted at 1pm yesterday, but it was covered by the tide before it could be examined.
A spokesperson from HM Coastguard said: “Dover Coastguard were called just after 1pm on June 10 to reports of an object that had been uncovered by the tide on Bexhill beach.
“Bexhill Coastguard Rescue Team attended the scene at low tide yesterday evening and informed the Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operation Centre.”
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence confirmed the item would be investigated by experts later this afternoon (Thursday).
