Cafe right on track

With refurbishment work at Bexhill Station almost complete, the building is already home to a new business enterprise - The Trackside Café.

This is the first of two retail outlets planned within its concourse and it is hoped the pharmacy will open in the near future.

The caf, which offers a selection of delicious cakes, savouries and refreshments for people on the move, delighted early morning commuters by offering tasty samples of home made cakes and paninis from 7.30am and throughout the rest of the day.

The event was officially marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Mayor of Bexhill - Councillor Patrick R. Douart, who announced that the Caf was open and ready to trade.

Trackside's Service Development Manager Lisa Phillimore commented: "We are very excited that the Caf has now opened to the public and are also very proud that throughout the entire project we have used only local contractors and suppliers - making ours a truly local business".

The Trackside team also handed out wallet-sized loyalty cards, which can eventually be redeemed for a free coffee at the caf.

Trackside Caf is currently open 6 days a week, with extended hours of 6.30 am to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday.
