Residents at Bexhill’s Rookhurst Lodge enjoyed a summer tea party on June 22 to mark National Care Home Open Day.

Operations manager David Johnson said: “A great time was had by all the residents.

“The home’s activity champion, Laura came up with the idea of an English summer tea party and worked hard with the staff team and residents to make it a great success.

“The residents and staff were delighted to be joined during the afternoon by their relatives who are always so supportive to their loved ones and the home.

Staff and residents from Trust Care’s neighbouring home in St Leonards on Sea, Marlborough Lodge visited and enjoyed the event.

Residents were delighted that Bexhill Deputy Mayor Tom Graham attended and enjoyed meeting everybody. Some staff took time out from their hectic schedules to attend the party and have a catch up with staff and residents.

“The local church hall were very supportive lending the home extra seating which was very much needed due to the great turn out.

“The residents were delighted that the local neighbours supported the party and came along and enjoyed the sunshine and meeting everybody.

“Christine, one of the residents, thoroughly enjoyed playing host to the guests and supplied all in attendance with fresh tea, lemonade and lots of cakes, scones and nibbles. The fresh cream and jam scones were a particular hit.”

Christine said: “The party was brilliant. All the visitors were great and I had a wonderful day chatting with the neighbours”.
