The Bexhill Carnival Court attended the first of many appointments when they visited Mais House’s garden party last week.

Bexhill Carnival week, sponsored by Bexhill’s largest employer Hastings Direct, runs from July 24 - 30 with seven days of free events, ending up with carnival procession day on July 30, which will be led by the court.

Amilia Busby is this year’s Queen with Bo Reed as the Princess and Violet Birch, Sadie-May Satchell, and Skyla Baker as this year’s Junior Princesses.

Kate Cousins, Carnival Court Manager, said: “We are really grateful to all who applied to be in the carnival court this year, it made the judge’s decision very difficult.

“We have been working hard to ensure that the girls are equipped ready for the season of events they have been asked to attend.

We are grateful to court sponsor Emma Hellier, who again has provided the court with assistance in keeping up appearances.”

A diverse array of Carnival Week events this year include, walking football, a commando fitness course, a dog show and boot sale.

One highlight, on Friday July 29, is the Party in the Park event at Egerton Park with live bands and fireworks. The event will raise money for the good cause Entertainments Workshop, which provides training and support for local youngsters.

Carnival Day events, on Saturday 30, begin at the Polegrove from 1pm with a range of stalls, arena events and a fair.

The carnival procession itself leaves Turkey Road at 1pm and arrives at the Polegrove at 3pm.

All the events during Carnival Week are free to attend.
