Celebration of life for stab victim Rae

THE FUNERAL of stabbing victim Rae Torbet will be held as a celebration of her life.

A service will be held on Monday (April 14) for Rae, 19, who was stabbed to death in her Cantelupe Road flat on March 27.

Her mother Zoe Marfleet, speaking on behalf of herself and Rae's father Jim Torbet, said: "Rae was a fantastically energetic young woman who had the rest of her life ahead of her. As her Mum, I have lost my best friend.

"That's why we, her beloved family, want to pay our own fond tribute to her at a special ceremony celebrating her short life on Monday.

"Rae touched the hearts of so many people with her special blend of humour and humanity.

"Both Jim and I would be pleased to see any of her friends at the celebration - in memory of our own Rae of sunshine."

Friends and family will gather to remember the popular teenager at Eastbourne Crematorium on Monday at 1pm.

Dellwyn James, 31, of Chiltern Drive, Hastings, was due to appear at Lewes Crown Court yesterday charged with murder.
