Centenarian Marjorie Hird
MARJORIE Hird celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at the Sandhurst Residential Home on Saturday.
On reaching 100 years Marjorie said: "I feel happy and contented - I have lots of lovely people around me."
Born in Yorkshire Marjorie first moved to St Leonards with her parents when she was a child.
Later she married a diplomat, had two daughters and spent many years travelling the world and living in various countries.
Marjorie also has two grand-children, Ben and Karma.
Sharing Marjorie's big day celebrations were daughter Nina, Son-in-law Martin, residents and staff of Sandhurst Residential Home.
Sandhurst proprietor's Simon and Sakhina Brooker spoke highly of Marjorie and praised her independence.
Sakhina said: "She's very witty, charming and intelligent and does everything for herself. She's a fantastic lady."
