The sixth annual Tim O’Reilly Memorial Match was played at Horntye Park on Saturday May 21, raising £730 for St Michael’s Hospice, and taking the grand total raised to over £4,000.

The match, played between Tim O’Reilly’s former six-aside football team and friends, saw more than 25 players turn out for one of the closest encounters yet, with the ‘Reds’ coming out as 5-3 victors over the ‘Blues’.

Having been 2-0 down at half time, it took a rousing comeback to ensure red ribbons remained on the trophy.

Tim O’Reilly played for the Shiplu Reds for over six years with his friends and two sons up until the week before he was admitted to hospital.

He later stayed at St Michael’s Hospice where he and his family received exemplary care and support, before he sadly passed away.

Tim’s family would like to thank Garry Cooper and Phil Selby for organising the event, Horntye Park for their loaning of the pitch, Matt for refereeing and all those who took part, supported and donated during the match and at the successful raffle afterwards.
