Charters wear their art on their sleeve

Children from Charters Ancaster College, Bexhill took part in an imaginative art project which involved creating their own designs.

The colourful designs were then printed onto bags, t-shirts and mousemats.

The idea for the project was Art teacher Elizabeth Stone's and she said: "All the children enjoyed taking part and are pleased with the results."

The budding artistic designers were aged between 4 - 11 years and student Declan Mason aged 9, who designed a big red 'D' which was printed on to a t-shirt said that he thinks the idea was, "a very good opportunity because you design something and actually have it made into something you can wear."

The children were asked to chose a picture from a magazine and to stick to the colours in that picture for their own designs.

Student Claire Younger who is 11 said: "It was really, really fun. I had my designs made into two mousemats."
