Children were joined by Beavers and Cubs decorating lanterns in preparation for the Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday (December 3).

The children will walk their lanterns down Ninfield Road at 4.45pm for the Heart of Sidley event before mayor Maurice Watson turns on the lights at 5pm.

“It was great to see the smiles on all the children’s faces,” said team assistant Audrey Pinnington.

“They were really enthusiastic and had fun using all the sparkles, stickers and glitter paint.

“It should look really effective for the parade.”

Bexhill Lions organised for the children to find lions in Sidley shops as well as a colouring-in competition to win a toy lion and a £25 voucher.

“We’ve had great support from Bexhill Lions, Sidley Scouts and AmicusHorizon in organising this event,” said project co-ordinator Victoria Ferguson.

“We’re hoping that lots of families will attend and enjoy the Christmas festivities.”
