Christmas Hampers

Bexhill Caring Community is "overwhelmed" by the amount of donations to its Christmas Appeal.

The large back room behind the office in Sackville Road was stuffed full of goodies this week as volunteers began the job of packing hampers to be sent out next week.

Manager Margaret Von Speyr said: "All this is the result for the appeal which we have been running since October. We have had the support of schools, churches, and various organisations in Bexhill which have collected almost 3,000 tins, as well as hundreds of packets of biscuits, chocolate, tea, rice and pasta. We are ready to fill about 150 hampers for the needy of the town.

"Bexhill High pupils have collected masses to tins and have also volunteered to come and help us to pack.

"We have got to thank everybody for this fantastic response.

"Everyone is now invited to Bexhill Caring Community on Tuesday December 18 at 11am when our raffle will be drawn."
