Churches take part in light switch-on

Churches Together In Bexhill will be playing a full role in the exciting evening of festivities on December 4 when Bexhill’s Christmas lights are switched on.

The group will be playing background Christmas music from 4pm, with the attractions starting at 4.30pm.

There will be items from King Offa Primary School, and from Chantry Primary School.

The Ashburnham Choir, with their international students, will be performing a Christmas drama.

There will be more seasonal drama from East Sussex School of Performing Arts .

The chairman of Churches Together In Bexhill has been invited to say a Christmas prayer for the town before the big Christmas lights switch on, which takes place At 6pm by the Christmas tree in Devonshire Square.

The Bexhill Street Pastors will be attending, and serving hot drinks during the evening.

There will be a life size nativity tableau and from 6pm there will be an opportunity for anyone who wishes to ‘Get in the Picture’.

Get in the Picture is a Churches Together project started in 2008.

It enables all kinds of people to be involved in the Christmas story in a fun way.

Photos are taken and uploaded onto the website for participants to print out or share with friends for free.

From 7pm - 8pm there will be concert by The Remnant, an exciting eight piece Gospel band with three horns and five vocalists. People who wish to will be able to sing along to some of the carols being performed.

The Shining Lights organisation is planning on staging the town’s first late night Christmas event in over a decade.
