Clampdown on school uniform

BEXHILL High School has announced a major crackdown on school uniform - and this time there will be no relenting.

Principal Mike Conn says he is reacting to the latest parents’ survey when uniform was highlighted as one area of concern.

A letter has now been sent home to all parents’ and carers explaining the policy must be followed - or pupils will be sent home.

Hoodies are forbidden, extreme hairstyles will not be allowed, and no jewellery apart from a watch and one small stud in each ear lobe.

Mike said: “There have been some comments - and with justification - that we have not been consistent with our policy on school uniform.

“We have listened to the parents who have asked for change and clarification, and we have taken those views on board.

“It is important that the uniform standards reflect the ethos of the school... the reputation of Bexhill High materially depends on the relationship we have between home and school.”
