Climate change seminar asks: do we have a future?

DO our children and the earth have a future?

That's what Bexhill and Hastings United Nations Association will be asking at a day-long seminar on climate change on Saturday, September 26.

The event, which features speakers and special workshops, seeks to gather ideas from anyone interested in the effects of climate change prior to the Copenhagen summit in December.

Ecological theologian Dr Edward Echlin, who is chairing the seminar with Linda Bailey, said: "A lot of people in Bexhill are very interested in climate change. It's important to raise awareness of what is happening."

Speakers include students from Bexhill High School and St Richard's Catholic College, and Simon Hickmott, the environmental manager at East Sussex County Council.

The ploughman's lunch will be locally produced and climate-friendly, and will be followed by three workshops, on energy, local food and transport.

The seminar takes place at Parkhurst Hall, Parkhurst Road, Bexhill, and runs from 10.30am to 3pm. Entrance is free, but tickets for lunch need to be booked, and cost 2.50.
