Community stories for Bexhill museum

Got a great story about your granny? Or maybe an old uncle who made a little piece of Bexhill history?

Bexhill Museum is appealing for community information to add to its archives and asks anyone to get in touch with facts and stories of past life in the town - whether a relative was a much loved teacher, blacksmith or the first ever fire-fighter, or did something unusual, funny or heroic.

It is hoped in particular people will now contact the museum staff with information about anything of interest concerning women of the past as Bexhill has strong links with the suffragette movement which was started by the wife of the 8th Earl of De La Warr, among others. This would be useful information for the exhibition staged next year on the lives of women from 1900-1970 for which Bexhill Museum has just been awarded a grant of almost 10,000.
