Company helps out Senior Citizen Club

Hastings Direct gave ‘A Helping Hand’ to the Bexhill Senior Citizens Club with a donation of £250 which will go towards the replacement of the club’s 40 year old central heating boiler.

Hastings ‘A Helping Hand’ scheme provides financial, professional and physical support to local charities, community groups and individuals on a monthly basis.

“When the club got in touch, there was no hesitation in providing support said Jay Wootten, who handles community liaison for the company.

“Bexhill Senior Citizens Club is a greatly loved club and a valuable resource where the elderly can to come together in Bexhill. We were pleased to provide a donation towards the much needed boiler.”

Gerry Andrews, chairman of Bexhill Senior Citizens Club said: “This contribution will go towards the £4,000 we urgently need to replace the boiler and keep our elderly members, currently over 300, warm this winter.

“The club has been running for over 50 years and offers a valuable, friendly social space and a range of activities for its members.

“We still need to raise more and are appealing to other local businesses to help us reach our goal.”
