County honours Duke of Edinburgh gold award winners

Local youngsters were honoured for achieving Duke of Edinburgh gold awards at a county event.

Emily Crook, Lara Cole, Cristina Jiminez and Joshua Gerry from Invicta Award Group which meets at Beulah Baptist Church, attended the event at Ashdown Park Hotel.

They joined young people from all over East Sussex for the evening which marked the end of the hard work they all put in to complete their award.

Each candidate had worked at five different sections to gain their award - these were Volunteering, Interest, Physical, Expedition, and Residential. To inform and entertain the audience of parents and friends some of the young people gave talks and showed photographs about some aspect of their award.

Joshua was MC for the evening.

All the participants are now waiting to go to St James's Palace to officially receive their award from the Duke of Edinburgh himself.

The Invicta Award Group meets on Tuesday evenings and prepares young people for all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award - bronze, silver and gold.
