Ileana Tomoiaga, 29, and her son Daniel left their home in Furnace Way, Uckfield at 2.30pm on Thursday, December 31.

Ileana said she was going to the nearby Tesco Express to buy a bottle of wine and a phone charger, although there is currently no evidence that she went there or to any other shops in the town.

Her family reported them missing on New Year’s Day, after making enquiries locally and with friends and relatives.

Ileana previously lived in Willesden, North West London, so may have gone there and local officers are in contact with the Metropolitan Police to widen the search.

Officers have also left messages on her facebook account but there has been no response. They are now distributing missing posters in the area appealing for information.

Shannon Marchesani of the East Sussex Missing Persons team said: “We are growing concerned about Ileana and Daniel. We are appealing to Ileana to contact us to let us know she and Daniel are safe.

“The evidence shows that Ileana left home completely of her own accord and there are still no suspicious circumstances. However she did not leave with anything to prepare either of them for even a short stay away, and nothing has been heard since.”

Ileana is described as white, 5’ 5, slim with long red straight hair and a pale skin and was wearing a black leather jacket, black trousers and brown boots. She speaks English, with a Romanian accent.

Anyone who has seen Ileana or Daniel, or knows where they may be, is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1592 of 01/01. If either of them appear to require medical treatment or are in danger, call 999 immediately.
