Matt Jones was one of the first victims to be announced following the Hawker Hunter plane crash in Shoreham that claimed 11 lives on August 22.

To remember the popular 24-year-old and the other victims, the four men have composed a song ‘Bridge of Flowers’, which has already received more than 1,000 hits on SoundCloud (a music platform that allows people to share original songs).

Singer-songwriter Nino Vydeenaden, 21, said: “I have known Matt through friends for the past five or six years, so when I went out with people, he’d be there.

“When he died I was contemplating doing a song but I didn’t know where to start.”

After fellow Littlehampton singer-songwriters Jack Hibbert, 19 and Fred Edwards, 22, showed their interest in writing a song for the airshow victims, the three pulled together and wrote an original track.

Jack said: “I know Matt through friends and met him at parties. I felt a bit helpless in this situation, so I came up with the idea of doing a song.”

Nino said: “I’m always up for collaborating with other musicians and we all contributed equally.”

The song was sent to producer, Jacob Aaron, 20, a friend of Jack’s from Worthing.

Nino continued: “We gave Jacob something to work with and he got back to us with the instrumentation. We then went to Airtight Studios in Chichester and had the finished product by Sunday.”

Now the song has made waves on SoundCloud the musicians, also known as StreetPoets, would like ‘Bridge of Flowers’ to reach more people and raise money for the Shoreham Air Show Fund.

Nino said: “We want people to hear it because we have worked quite hard on it.

“We want to show people that they are not alone because a lot of others have gone through the same thing.”

Jack said: “We want it to go viral and for all the victims to have a voice.”
